What is out there
The kinds of funding that exist
Students routinely miss whole categories because they only look for the word “scholarship”. These are the shapes funding usually takes.
Need-based support
Assessed on financial circumstances rather than grades. Usually requires documentation of household income, and often has an earlier deadline than the course itself.
Government-funded schemes
Several destinations run funded places or fee support for international students, sometimes restricted by nationality, subject or level. Eligibility rules are strict and set nationally.
University awards
Institutional funding for their own students. Some are automatic on admission with no separate form — which is exactly why they get missed.
Subject and field funding
Tied to a discipline, often funded by a department, a research council or an industry body. Smaller pools, and far less competition than the headline awards.
Fee reductions and waivers
Partial discounts, early-payment reductions, regional fee rates. Rarely called scholarships, and easy to overlook when comparing total cost.

Five things worth checking

Whether you need an offer first
Some funding is assessed alongside admission; some cannot be applied for until you hold an offer. Getting this order wrong is one of the most common ways a deadline is missed.

The real deadline
Funding deadlines are often earlier than the application deadline for the course itself — sometimes by months. Work backwards from the earliest one, not the latest.

What it actually covers
Full tuition, partial tuition, living costs, one year or the whole program. Two awards with the same headline figure can leave you in very different positions.

Whether it renews
A first-year award is not the same as funding for the degree. Check the conditions for keeping it — often a grade threshold you will need to plan around.

That applying is free
A legitimate scholarship does not charge you a fee to apply for it. If something asks you to pay to be considered, stop and confirm directly with the institution.

Where a figure is approximate or converted, it is labelled. A tracked scholarship is something that exists, not something you have been given.

- No. We can show you funding attached to the programs you are considering and what its stated eligibility is. The decision belongs entirely to the provider.
- Are the amounts you show guaranteed?
- No. Amounts and terms are as published by the provider and can change. We link to their page so you can confirm before you rely on a figure.
- I have good grades but no money. Where should I start?
- Set your real budget in your profile rather than an aspirational one, so results reflect what is reachable. Then look at university awards and subject-specific funding for the programs that fit — they are less contested than the headline schemes and more often assessed from your admission application.
- Do you cover living costs as well as tuition?
- Tuition is shown for every program as published by the institution. Living costs vary enormously by city and by how a person lives, so we do not fold them into a single confident-looking total. Where funding covers living costs, that is part of what the provider states.
